In recent years, there has been an ever-growing demand for natural remedies and medicine, including CBD Oil Hemp Extract. While the use of CBD for holistic purposes is not a new concept, many people still have several misconceptions about this incredible natural supplement.

If you’re new to CBD or have questions about its uses, legality, or relation to THC, let’s take a quick look at the key differences and misconceptions.

Are CBD and THC the same thing?

CBD and THC are both cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant (more commonly known as marijuana). Cannabinoids are naturally occurring chemical compounds that trigger cannabinoid (and other) receptors.

Will CBD make me ‘high’?

While both cannabinoids are derived from the same plant, CBD is not a psychoactive, meaning it won’t make you ‘high’. It will, however, provide you with a wide array of medical benefits, ranging from reducing anxiety, easing depression to reducing your risk of cancer.

THC, on the other hand, is the cannabis chemical that is responsible for giving users the psychoactive effects we commonly refer to as getting “high”. While THC often gets a bad rep, for this reason, it does still offer several positive medical benefits including pain reduction, the shrinking of tumors and many others.

It’s interesting to note that while both cannabinoids provide medical benefits, the majority of medical benefits associated with cannabis come from CBD.

Is it Legal?

This is probably one of the most commonly asked questions about CBD. Because CBD is derived directly from Cannabis, many are confused about its legality in the United States as Cannabis is still illegal in many states.

As of December of 2018, President Trump signed into law the farm bill, which contained a provision legalizing hemp products, including CBD products. It is important to mention however that the federal definition of hemp requires that it contain less than 0.3% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the euphoric component of cannabis.

Here at HooplaTM, all of our CBD products are 100% THC free, farm bill compliant, and legal in all 50 states.

As a quick recap, here are the key differences between CBD and THC:

  • CBD will not get you ‘high’, but THC will.
